Constitution Week Sept. 17-23
The tradition of celebrating the signing of the Constitution was started in 1955 when the Daughters of the American Revolution petitioned Congress to set aside the week of Sept. 17-23 to be dedicated annually for observance of “Constitution Week.”
The resolution was adopted and signed into law in 1956. The Stephens Chapter of the DAR, founded in 1904, sponsors public awareness of Constitution Week and asks each of you celebrate this week by resolving to be better-informed and responsible citizens.
