HHS to host volleyball tourney

The second Annual Eddie Preuitt Varsity Volleyball Tournament will be held at Hartselle High School this weekend with 15 teams competing for the championship trophy.

Pool play will get underway Friday at 3 p.m. with the host Lady Tigers facing East Limestone in a best three of five sets match in Pool A

Cookville, Tenn., Austin and Albertville will compete in Pool B, Madison Academy, Brewer and Cullman in Pool C, UMS-Wright, Randolph and Oxford in Pool D and Danville, Pelham and Pinson Valley in Pool E. Arab will compete Saturday only.

All of Friday’s matches will be played at Hartselle High. J.C. Some of Saturday’s matches will be played in the J.C. Pettey Gym.

Championship bracket play will begin at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.  The semi-finals are set for 3:30 p.m. and the championship match will be at 4:30 p.m.

The tournament sponsor will display new Ford Motor Co. automobiles and pickups in the student parking lot during the tournament.

“Several of the teams competing are ranked among the top 10 in the state,” said Hartselle head coach Tanya Lybarger. “Competition will be tough and the viewing should be good for fans who enjoy volleyball.”

Hartselle’s varsity team had last weekend off while the JV team competed in a tournament at Guntersville, finishing second to Grissom.
