Nalls powers Fayette past Danville

FAYETTE – Fayette County’s Kyle Nalls scored four touchdowns (three rushing and one receiving) as the Tigers defeated Danville 41-26 Friday night.

Nalls, who finished with 245 yards rushing, scored three of his touchdowns in the first half as Fayette built a 28-0 lead. Nalls had scoring runs of 23 and 46 yards while adding a 16-yard TD reception.

Danville’s Austin Clemons put the Hawks on the scoreboard early in the third period when he intercepted a Fayette pass and returned it 65 yards for the score. Logan Jaep added the PAT to make it 28-7 Fayette.

Nalls would get his final touchdown of the night on Fayette’s next possession. He raced 55 yards for the score to give the Tigers a 34-7 lead with 9:18 left in the 3rd period. Neither team would score again until the final quarter.

On the first play of the fourth quarter, Danville’s Peyton Colburn scored on a 4-yard run. Jaep’s kick was good and Fayette led 34-14 with 11:52 left in the game. Danville’s scoring drive covered 45 yards in seven plays.

Fayette would answer right back, scoring on a 53-yard run on its first play from scrimmage.

Danville would score twice more on runs of 40 and 2 yards by Ryan Self and Kain Hogan respectively. Hogan’s score came on the game’s final play making the score 41-26 in favor of the Tigers of Fayette. Danville’s last scoring drive went 62 yards in five plays.

Friday night, Danville will celebrate homecoming as the Hawks host county rival Priceville. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
