Hobson “Junior” Ward

Funeral for Hobson Ward, “Junior”, 90, of Hartselle will be Mon., Sept. 29, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Anthony Patterson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Gum Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Mon., Sept. 29, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Ward died Fri., Sept. 26, 2014, at River City Care and Rehab. He was born Sept. 20, 1924, in Morgan County to Leonard Hobson Ward and Cindi Jones Ward but was raised by Exie Ward Callahan. Mr. Ward retired in 1984 from the Hartselle City Fire Department, where he served as the Fire Chief. He was a member of the Somerville Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years. He loved gardening, fishing and hunting. He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Marie Lynch Ward; and his parents.

He is survived by a son, Randall Ward (Dot) of Hartselle; a daughter, Janice Rollins (Danny) of Somerville; five brothers, Harold Ward of Eva, Huey Ward of Tennessee, Jerry Ward of Somerville, Tom Ward of Hartselle and Ronnie Ward of Moulton; a sister, Mary Nell Mekras of Hartselle; four grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
