A rainy morning turned into a muggy afternoon during Falkville’s Fall Festival Saturday, but the unfavorable weather didn’t cause too many problems.
The festival offered pancakes, live music, a 5K race, arts and crafts vendors, a car and tractor show, food and inflatables.
The weather seemed to deter some vendors and visitors, but the low turn out didn’t bring down the mood of the festival.
“We had some vendors not show up and our turn out was less than normal,” said Falkville Town Clerk Dawn Estes. “Even thought the weather didn’t cooperate, it was a stress-free day. I heard many good things from visitors and vendors about how much they were enjoying their day. I think it was fairly successful considering the rain and the festival that was also going on in Cullman.”
The Second Annual Color Me Downtown 5K had 23 participants in the pouring rain.
“We didn’t have quite as many participants in the 5K this year because of the rain, but we all had a great time,” Estes said. “We didn’t run into any problems despite the gross weather. Everyone seemed to enjoy it more in the rain since they were planning on getting messy anyway.”
Estes said they are considering combining the next Color Me Downtown 5K with the Carpenter’s Cabinet Breast Cancer Awareness run.
The fire department’s pancake breakfast was a success with plenty of attendants and donations, according to Estes.
