All of God’s commandments can be summarized by two simple directives: “Love God with all you’ve got” and “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Jesus said all Old Testament Law and Prophets are summarized in these two directives. It is easy to talk about loving God and your neighbor, but it is completely a different thing to put it into practice.

On Oct 11-13, Shoal Creek Baptist Church in Priceville showed their neighbors God loves them and so do they! During “Love Your Neighbor Weekend 2014,” over 60 volunteers from the church were able to replace a roof for a family, trim trees in several yards, minister at several nursing homes, give cold water in the name of Jesus, do home repairs, paint a house, rake leaves, clean flowerbeds and share the Gospel of Christ.

Mrs. Lois Livingston from Priceville said about “Love Your Neighbor Weekend, “Love your neighbor? These words are almost unheard of in this day and time. I thought I would have to search far and wide to find the true meaning, but instead God brought them right to my door and used a group of His people from Shoal Creek Baptist to put them into action. I am eternally grateful.”

At Falkville Healthcare Center, a dear lady with tear-filled eyes thanked Ross Hawkins, a high school senior, for loving her enough to come and play his guitar and sing Amazing Grace to her and her friends.”

“Love Your Neighbor outreach is a wonderful expression of Christ’s love that has truly blessed my heart,” said Mrs. Dora Mae Wallace of Hartselle.

“Shoal Creek is so thankful that the Lord has allowed the church to serve Him and minister in Morgan County for over 170 years,” said senior pastor Bro. Gary Linville. “We want to continue to minister to our neighbors. In addition to the many projects that took place on “Love Your Neighbor Weekend,” Shoal Creek is planning a Thanksgiving meal outreach and a Drive-In Food Giveaway for the community.

During the month of November, the church will be collecting nonperishable food items at the church office and at Traditions Bank in Priceville. For more information, call the church office at 256-3453-7956 or visit www.shoalcreekbaptist.org.
