Hartselle is what town should be

Dear Editor,

It seems that the mere fact that I do not live within the city limits of Hartselle, I should not have the right to voice my opinion. I have lived in Hartselle 65 of my 75 years. I spend 99% of my income in Hartselle. My roots are deep in the soil of Hartselle. My father, N. C. Sharrott, was the supervisor of Hartselle Electric Dept. For many years, my brother, Kenneth Sharrott, was manager of Joe Wheeler. I finished school at MCHS in 1959. Hartselle is what a “small town should be.”

Now here is the “rest of the story,” as Paul Harvey would say:

Did You Know?

1. Ranked second of 50 largest Alabama cities for Community Allure (Ala. Policy Institute March 2013 “How Business Friendly are Ala.’s 50 Largest Cities.

2. Ranked in Top 100 Best Small Towns in the U.S.

3. Named Sixth Safest Place in Alabama (Movoto Real Estate Blog.)

4.  Population grown by 18% since 2000.

5. Sale tax revenue up 2.64% over last fiscal year of Sept. 1, 2014.

So you see Mr. Henderson, Matt. 6:33 is true. Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.

I don’t want it said of Hartselle as in Rev. 3:15,16. I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. (verse 16:) So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

In Christ Name,
