Four local teams will be competing in the AHSAA State Cross Country Meet at the Oakville Indian Mounds Park & Museum.

Both the boys and girls from Hartselle High School qualified for the state meet by finishing second and third respectively.

The Lady Tigers took the top two spots in the Class 5A sectional meet in Madison last week.

Abigail Davis finished first with a time of 19:41.7 while Billie Shelton was the runner-up with 20:55.01.Macie Holder added a 14th place finish with 22:20.06 while Madison Clemons was 19th with 22:48.64 and Reagan Bowling was 20th with 22:50.02.

Also in the girls 5A division, Brewer’s Trina Badger was third overall with 20:55.76. Laura Dube also finished 12th with 25:08.48.

In the boys 5A sectional, Hartselle had three top 10 finishers. Johnathan Duncan was fourth with 17:09.62 while Charlie Ord finished seventh at 18:03, edging teammate and eighth place finisher, Chase Barrett with 18:04.27.

Eroic Rabadan was 18th with 18:47.73 and Timothy Ammons was 20th with a time of 18:49.41.

Addison Zanda was in 21st place with  18:50.63.

Jamie Jones and Matthew Ellow were the top finishers for Brewer with 14th and 16th place finishes respectively. Their times were 18:22.06 and 18:33.39.

In Class 4A boys at Good Hope, Priceville took second place to advance to the state meet. Trey Lambert and Matthew Mason paced the Bulldogs with 11th (20:01.07) and 12th  (20:09.19) place finishes.

Brett Hall was 15th with 21:18.54 followed by Riley Goodwin in 22nd with 21:46.25 and Aaron Fowler with 21:47.16 for 23rd place.

Danville failed to place in the boys division, as Ben Mause led the way with a 32nd place finish.

In girls 4A, neither Danville or Priceville had enough runners to field a team. However, Jenna Cowart of PHS was 19th.

Falkville’s boys team also advanced to state. Brian Bradford paced the Blue Devils with a 4th place finish followed by Blake Bradford in 11th, Drake Hamilton in 14th, Bryan White in 26th and Jose Meza in 30th place. Casey Barfield was 18th for Falkville’s girls.
