Danville-Neel Elementary School students demonstrated their American patriotism with a student-led annual Veterans Day Program Monday morning.

Against the backdrop of a large American flag, the third grade choir sang patriotic songs, fourth grade Ambassadors voiced tributes to veterans and a video was shown, featuring the images of family members of students and faculty members who served in the armed forces since World War I.

The choirs, led by music teacher Karen Randolph, sang “The Star-Spangled Banner,” the “Armed Forces Medley,” “Hope of America” and the “USA Chant Song.”

The Ambassadors who spoke were Braylon Evans, Conner Owens, Kerra Vest, T. Reid Ellis, Mallory Lindsey, Kooper Rooks, Thomas Kerby, Jazmine Weaver, Heidi Beltran, Da’von Griffin and Lillie Kate Eddy.

Third grade ambassadors honored veterans with sentence tributes.

The video, which concluded the program, showed photos from family albums of veterans having a kinship with students and faculty. Each photo was accompanied by the name and branch of service of the veteran and listed the person contributing the photo. It was prepared by Crystal Mason.

The program was attended by about 50 veterans and an equal number of family members.

Recognized as special guests were Superintendent Bill Hopkins Jr., District 2 Morgan County School Board member-elect Adam Glenn, Mike Emerson and Jeff Powers, representative of Partner in Education Toray Fluorafibers American Inc.
