GIRLS BASKETBALL: Priceville 51, Danville 41
McKenzie Parker scored 10 of her 27 points during a 12-0 run in the second half to lift Priceville to a 51-41 win over county rival Danville.
Late in the third quarter, Priceville (1-2) led the Lady Hawks (0-1) 27-24 when Parker took over the game. She was 10 of 13 at the foul line while collecting 4 steals, 3 assists and 7 rebounds.
Priceville head coach Terrie Nelson said this was a much-needed win for her young team.
“Our seniors showed a lot of leadership tonight to help our younger players stay in the right frame of mind under pressure,” Nelson said. “We grew up a lot tonight. “
Ashley Quinn had a trio of 3-pointers to add 15 points for the Lady Bulldogs. Kayla Lucas and Shyanne Stackhouse added 3 points apiece followed by Alex Shields with 2 points and 8 rebounds and Mia Grantland with a free throw.
Charlee Anderson and Sydni Shelton kept Danville in the game with 10 points each. Gracie George added 9 points followed by Tabetha Hutto with 7, Tara Tuck with 3 and Morgan Weatherwax with 2.
