Hartselle Police are looking for two men believed to be part of a driveway resurfacing scam.

A report was filed with the Hartselle Police Department in reference to the scam Nov. 10. The victim stated two subjects went to her residence and were soliciting work for sealing driveways.

The victim asked how much they would charge and she was advised the sealer was $25.00 per gallon and there was no charge for labor. The victim asked how many gallons they would estimate using, and she was advised four or five buckets. The victim agreed to let them do the job.

Once finished, the victim was advised the cost was $950.00. The victim questioned the price and she was advised they used seven buckets and each bucket contained five gallons. The victim wrote them a check and they left.

said the price should have been $875.00. The victim was advised to write another check and they would tear up the first one.  The victim watched as the check was ripped in half. The victim later discovered both checks cleared the bank. The suspects ripped another item appearing to be the check, because the check was not ripped when it was cashed.

The work performed was very poor, and the substance used to coat the driveway was extremely thin. The coating pooled up in areas and ran off in others. Some areas appeared to have no coating at all. It is uncertain what is being used to coat the driveway because there were no materials left at the residence.

The subjects are driving a bright red extended cab truck, believed to be a Dodge. There is some type of tank in the back of the vehicle.

There were two men at the victim’s residence, but investigators believe there are other crews involved. Warrants have been obtained for two subjects believed to be from Arkansas, Chris Young, 5-6-1969, and Christopher Young, 3-11-91, for theft of property second degree.
