Priceville approves $3M budget
Priceville Town Council approved a record $3 million budget for fiscal 2014-2015 at a regular meeting November 10.
Revenues are expected to reach $3,045,650 as compared to $2,938,300 in the prior year. Expenditures are projected at $2,546,233 or almost $500,000 less than anticipated revenues,
Mayor Melvin Duran said the drop in expenditures resulted from one-time expenditures of over $250,000 in capital expenditures in the administration, street and maintenance departments in fiscal 2013-2014.
Budgeted for year-to-year increases were parks & recreation, $18,000; fire department, $10,00; and school and community $3,000.
Significant increases in revenue were project from the following sources: Morgan County two-cent sales tax, up $23,000; local gas tax, up $18,000; alcohol tax, up $18,000; lodging tax, up $6,000; and one percent city sales tax, up $4,000.
