Thanks for making Caring Day a big success
Dear Editor:
I would like to thank the residents of Hartselle for participating in our annual Caring Day. The City of Hartselle collected 13,059 canned goods, 97 turkeys and one ham were donated by our merchants and purchased with money donated by civic clubs, companies and churches. I would like to thank Ray Lotter, manager of Hometown Market, for working with us to purchase the turkeys. I would also like to thank ILPEA Industries for donating 2,200 canned food items and the Hartselle Enquirer for their generous donation.
I would also like to thank the city employees that worked this year to make this event a success. Byron Turney, Hershel Clemons, Glen Hollingsworth, Wesley Massey, Roger Aldridge, Charles Woodard, Greg Mayfield, Robert Fricks, Nathan Walker, Mark Edmondson, Chris Orr, Bradley Byrd, Charles Russell, Jeremy Griffith and Derrick Woodall worked to be sure that all the canned foods were collected and taken to the Caring Place. Mark Peck and Chris Wallace with the Hartselle Board of Education collected the canned foods from the schools. I would also like to thank all the banks and the businesses that were drop off locations. A big thank you goes out to Crestline School, Barkley Bridge, Burleson, Hartselle Intermediate, the Junior High School and the High School! I would also like to thank Bethel Baptist School students for working at the Caring Place. Carolyn Wallace with Hartselle Beautification Association helped me to organize the event; Virginia Alexander with the Caring Place worked hard to be sure that the counting, sorting and distribution went quickly and smoothly.
Thank you for caring and making this event a community effort to collect canned food items for Thanksgiving!
Sincerely,
Susan Seibert
