A 14U travel soccer team representing Morgan County won a state championship at the Alabama State Soccer Association Tournament in Prattville Nov. 16.

Crossroads defeated River Regions Rapids 1-0 in a fourth overtime period after knocking out the Homewood Eagles in a semifinal game. The team advanced to the playoffs by winning a preliminary tournament at the Jack Allen Soccer Complex in Decatur Nov. 1-2.

Team members, most of whom reside in the Decatur, Hartselle Priceville and Eva area, received a team trophy and individual medals to commemorate their achievement.

“I’m proud of the players because of their commitment and effort,” said head coach Eusebio Samuel. “They love the game and are true team players. They play to improve their game and have run.

“A big part of their success is the outstanding support they’ve received from their families and fans,” he added.
