Bethel teams fall in season openers

Bethel Baptist 24, Providence Classical 44

 

Bethel Baptist School’s varsity Bobcats (0-1) were left looking for a first win after losing their season opener to Providence Classical, 44-24, in a home opener Nov. 20.

Bethel was led in scoring by Andrew Dodd and Sam Murphy with eight points each.

Patrick Jesup paced the winners with 20 points.

Bethel’s JV team also lost in a hard-fought battle, 24-29. Malik Lyons led Bethel in scoring with18 points.

Bryan Counts paced the winners with 11 points.

 

Bethel Baptist 44, Cornerstone Christian 50

 

Bethel’s varsity (0-4) opened conference play with a close loss to Cornerstone Christian, 50-44, on the road Nov. 24. The Bobcats went on an 8-0 run in the fourth quarter, but couldn’t overcome a 14-point halftime deficit.

Bethel was led in scoring by senior Andrew Dobb with a career high 30 points.

Gage Crowder paced Cornerstone in scoring with 17 points.

Bethel also fell short in the JV game, losing 21-36. Samuel Hardiman led Cornerstone in scoring with 17 points.
