Funeral service for Charles D. Johnston, 79, of Somerville will be Sat., Nov. 29, at 3 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church with Dr. Charles Owens officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, Nov. 29, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the church.
Mr. Johnston died on Tues., Nov. 25, 2014, at his residence. He was born Jan. 15, 1935, in Morgan County to James and Susie Mae Johnston. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist church for over 50 years. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Somerville Area Volunteer Emergency Services (S.A.V.E.S.). He was an owner of Johnston Junction small engine repair and owned Char-Nel Kennels, boarding grooming and standard poodles.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Nell Weems Johnston; a son, Darryl Johnston (Vickie) of Somerville; two daughters, Angela Dormagen (Andy) of Huntsville and Joy Needham (Heath) of Melbourne, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Braeden Needham, Corbin Needham and Mia Needham.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Johnston, Kamen Johnston, Dormagen, Andy, Lawrence Adair, James Truffa, Glenn Winton.
