Funeral for Richard Boyd Wilcoxson of Hartselle will be Thur., Dec. 4, at noon at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Charles Shaddix and Phillip Hines officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Bethel Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be Thur., Dec. 4, from 10 a.m. to noon at the funeral home.

Mr. Wilcoxson died Tues., Dec. 2, 2014, at his residence. He was born in Lawrence County, Tennessee to Rayford Wilcoxson and Elizabeth Johnson Wilcoxson, who preceded him in death. He graduated from Coffee High School, Florence State College and from Alabama A & M State College. He was retired from his career as an educator. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was active for many years in the Hartselle Kiwanis Club and Hartselle Clean City Association. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Hartselle. Family members wanted to list more accomplishments to this obituary but at Richard’s explicit request, they will not.

He is survived by his wife, Jane McClanahan Wilcoxson of Hartselle; a son, Richard “Bo” Wilcoxson (Julie) of Haleyville; two sisters, Bobbie Caudle and Mary Fusch (Henri), both of Huntsville; two grandchildren, Lauran Wilcoxson and Mac Wilcoxson, both of Haleyville; and aunt, Jean Hill of St. Joseph, Tenn.

Pallbearers will be William Booth, Jack Cash, Edwin White, Kenny Mitchell, Barry Sawyer, Paul Caudle, Wayne Wilcoxson and Jimmy Yarbrough.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Wilson, Robert Stephenson, Norris Turney, Coleman Smith and J.J. Summerford.

In lieu of flowers, family requests that memorial donations be made to Hospice of the Valley, St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to The Caring Place.
