Commission votes one-time pay hike

Morgan County employees will take home an additional $40,000 in Christmas bonuses next payday thanks to the generosity of county commissioners.

Each full-time employee will receive $100 and each permanent part-time employee $50.

The one-time salary adjustment was approved unanimously at a regular meeting of the commission Dec. 9.

Commission chairman Ray Long said the money would be paid to 360 employees Dec. 18.

“This is the first holiday bonus employees have received since 2010,” Long pointed out. “After reviewing our financial status, we felt it was something we could do without affecting our budget.
