Funeral for Daisy Garth Osborne will be held Mon., Dec. 29, at noon at First Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy R. Young, officiating.

Burial in Hartselle Memory Gardens. The body will be in church 1 hr before the services.

Mrs. Osborne died Mon., Dec. 22, 2014. She was born March 3, 1923 in Morgan County to the late Elmer and Lela Tucker Garth. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Moulton Heights Missionary Baptist Church and later became a member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Hartselle, where she was a member of the Mother Board. She was also a member of Deborah Chapter # 15 Order Of Eastern Star. She attended Morgan County Public School, A & M in Huntsville, and Fisk University in Nashville, Tenn., at a time when segregation was the normal and not the exemption. She achieved her degree in Mathematics and Business Administration.

In 1947, she began her teaching Career at Morgan County Training School. It was there in 1949 she met and married the love of her life the late Walter G. Osborne. This union lasted an amazing 60 years. With the blessing from God three children were born to this union.

Mrs. Osborne taught in the Morgan County School System for over 34 yrs. She touched the lives of so many people, as an educator with a caring attitude and a sense of discipline she helped her students to see the need for education. She is preceded in death by her husband, three brothers, Trudy, Olanza and Marvin Garth; two sisters, Henrietta Sharpley and Ella Lee Cater.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda Cowan of Huntsville, Glenda Burton (Donald Sr.) of Hartselle; a son, Stanley Osborne (Margaret) of Atlanta, Ga.; two grandsons, Donald Burton, Jr. (Khalilah) of Daphne and Devin Burton of Kansas, Mo.; two great-granddaughters, Krista and Kyra Burton both of Daphne; two sister-in laws, Northa Edwards and Donnie Mickles of Mobile; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
