Enquirer announces All-Area Football Team

Editor’s Note: This is the second part of a two-part series dealing with the fall sports awards. The All-Area Volleyball Team was released previously.

 

The Hartselle Enquirer has released its 2014 All-Area Football Team.

Below are the offensive and defensive teams along with honorable mention.

 

Offense

 

QB: Jake Tiffin, Jr., Hartselle – finished the season completing 132 of 202 passes for 1,827 yards with 14 TDs and 4 INTs. He also rushed 61 times for 260 yards and six touchdowns with only one fumble.

RB: Aaron Cartee, Jr., Priceville – rushed for 1,000 yards with 8 TDs and caught 6 passes for 89 yards and 2 TDs. He also threw for 1,044 yards with 18 TDs and 8 INTs after starting quarterback Kaleb Barker went down with an injury.

RB: Taylor Easterling, Fr., Hartselle – rushed for 897 yards for a 4.4-yards-per-carry average with 10 TDs and just two fumbles all season. He also caught 7 passes for 60yards while having 33.5-yard average on 42 punts.

RB: Drew Styles, Jr., Brewer – 150 rushes for 725 yards, 11 receptions for 119 yards, 15 kickoff returns for 384 yards and 1,228 all-purpose yards and 8 total TDs.

WR: Tobias Mitchell, Jr., Hartselle – caught 25 passes for 413yards and a TD. Head coach Bob Godsey said Mitchell was his most valuable blocker on the team.

WR: Sam Brandon, Sr., Priceville – caught 24 passes for 397 yards and 7 TDs.

OL: Austin Dudley, Sr., Brewer – Graded 84% on season.

OL: Tyler Chavers, Sr., Brewer – Graded 91% on season.

OL: Travis Weaver, So., Priceville – 24 pancake blocks.

OL: Keaton Israel, Jr., Priceville – 12 pancakes.

OL: Mykel Welch, Sr., Hartselle

TE: Luke Mason, Sr., Priceville –caught 26 passes for 454 yards and 9 TDs.

Kicker: Lamar Burch, Sr., Priceville, 34-for-37 on PATs, 40-yard punt average and had touchbacks on 85 percent of his kickoffs. He also caught 18 passes for 357 yards and 7 TDs.

ATH: Jaylan Jackson, Sr., Hartselle – averaged a touchdown per five offensive touches. He caught 39 passes for 561 yards and 8TDs for a 14.4-yard average. He rushed 28 times for 320 yards and 4 TDs. On special teams, he had 18 kickoff returns for 344 Yards for a 19.1-yard average, a blocked field goal return for a TD, six punt returns for 73 yards for a 12.1-yard average. On defense, he had 51 tackles, 4 breakups and 6 INTs.

ATH: Colton McCay, Jr., Danville – Rushed for 602 yards and 9 TDs. He also threw for 465 yards.

ATH: Brendon DeBerry, Sr., Brewer – was 32-for-56 for 345 yards passing, 62 rushes for 451 yards, 17 receptions for 201 yards, 13 kickoff returns for 310 yards,  14 punt returns for 119 yards and 1,426 all-purpose yards for 10 total TDs.

 

Defense

 

DL: Chance Walker, Sr., Hartselle – had 74 tackles, 9 TFLs and 5 sacks. He was the team leader in TFLs and sacks.

DL: Bryan Parker, Jr., Priceville – 69 total tackles, 30 solo, 39 assists, 6 sacks and 11 tackles for loss.

LB: Holden Langston, Sr., Hartselle – led Hartselle with 121 tackles, 5 TFLs, 2 sacks, a pass breakup, 2 forced fumbles and 2 fumble recoveries.

LB: Conner Landers, So., Hartselle – had 107 tackles, 8 TFLs, a sack, two pass breakups, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

LB: Jacob Vehrs, Sr., Priceville – 139 total tackles, 50 solo, 89 assists, 2 sacks, 10 tackles for loss, 2 forced fumbles and a pass breakup.

LB: DeSean Walker, Sr., Brewer – 102 tackles, 8 tackles for loss , 5 forced fumbles and 5 pass breakups.

LB: Kolten Bramlett, Sr., Brewer – 82 tackles, 4 tackles, 3 INTs and 2 fumble recoveries.
LB: Gavin Artiss, Jr., Brewer – 92 tackles, 3 tackles for loss and 4 forced fumbles.

P: Lane Anders, So., Hartselle – 84 tackles, 6 tackles for loss, 4 sacks, 5 pass breakups and one forced fumble. Also, he was an outstanding special teams player.

DB: Jamal Jackson, Sr., Hartselle – had 50 tackles and 5 INTs with a sack, a blocked field goal and a pass breakup. He also returned six kickoffs for 66 yards and one punt for a 77-yard touchdown. On offense, he caught 33 passes for 507 yards and 5 TDs for a 15.4-yard average.

DB: Zeth Malcolm, Jr., Hartselle – 101 tackles, a tackle for loss, 4 pass breakups, a fumble recovery and an INT.

DB: Dakota Parker, Sr., Priceville – 91 total tackles, 36 solo, 55 assists, a sack, 5 tackles for loss, 3 pass breakups and an INT.

DB: Michael Whitefield, Sr., Priceville – 57 total tackles, 30 solo, 27 assists, 3 tackles for loss, a forced fumble, 11 pass breakups and 4 INTs.
