Diamond Pro seeks abatement manufacturing operation

Diamond Pro is asking the Hartselle City Council for tax abatements to open a manufacturing facility in the Hartselle-Morgan County Industrial Park off Thompson Road.

Morgan County Economic Development Association President and CEO Jeremy Nails along with officials from Diamond Pro will be at Monday’s work session to present its proposal for tax abatements and discuss what the operation will be doing.

Nails said Diamond Pro currently has a distribution warehouse in Decatur, but they are looking to open a manufacturing facility in the former Mid-South Tools building on John D. Long Drive.

Other items that will be discussed Monday include:

• Ordinance 1410 – Recommended changes to permitted uses in the B1 and B2 zones (Introduction only).

• Ordinance 1411 – Recommended changes to permitted uses in the M1 and M2 zones (Introduction only).

• Ordinance 1412 – Recommended definitions changes to motor vehicles and trailers (as needed in Ordinance 1410 and 1411) (Introduction only).

• Ordinance 1413 – Recommended clarification revisions to the equine exception for R1 and R2 large tracts (Introduction only).

• Ordinance 141 – Recommended revisions to the CBD Design Review Board structure and duties (Introduction only).

• Discuss Fire Hydrant Maintenance Contract with Hartselle Utilities.

• Consider request for budget adjustments – Fire Department.

• Consider new volunteer roster for Fire Department .

• Consider authorization to utilize WEX, Inc. as the fleet fuel credit card service for all city vehicles and equipment.

• Discuss options for chipper repairs or alternative methods of handling yard debris

• Consider request to replace position for Equipment Operator 1 for Public Works.
