Howard Thad Johnson

Funeral for Howard Thad Johnson, age 77, of Falkville, will be held at Gandy’s Cove United Methodist Church Sat., Jan. 24, with the viewing at noon and memorial service at 1 p.m.

Visitation will from 6 to 8 p.m., on Fri., Jan. 23, at Peck Funeral Home.

Mr. Johnson died Jan. 21, 2015. He was born Oct. 3, 1937. A graduate of Morgan County High School, Mr. Johnson served in the United States National Guard, and, after many years of labor, retired as a millwright from Copeland Corporation. He was a member of Gandy’s Cove United Methodist Church. A loving father, devoted husband, kind and generous man, he will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sara Morris Johnson; his father, Aubry Johnson; his stepmother, Orene Johnson; his mother, Georgia Montgomery; and his stepfather, Bruce Montgomery.

He is survived by his wife, Becky Johnson; his children, Rex Slate, Philip and Jennifer Stafford, William and Amanda Calvo, Matt and Jalonda Smith; seven grandchildren; his brothers, Kenneth Lipscomb, Russell Johnson, and Bob McMillan.

Pallbearers will be Howard Crow, Matt Smith, Philip Stafford, William Calvo, Sandy Fields and Nelson Graham.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a contribution to the charity of your choice.
