Priceville OKs first on-premises liquor license

Priceville Town Council approved alcoholic beverage licenses for two businesses at its regular meeting Monday night.

La Casita Mexican Restaurant was granted a license to sell liquor for consumption on premises while Priceville Foodland was approved for a license to sell table wine and beer for off-premises consumption.

Both license requests were recommended by the town’s Alcohol Review Boards and made subject to a public hearing.

La Casita is the first local business to be licensed to sell alcohol for consumption on its premises.

The council acted on other matters as follows:

•Approved $275 and other expenses for Town Clerk Constance Childers to attend a Municipal Clerk Certification Course in Tuscaloosa Feb. 18-20.

•Approved $192 and other expenses for Town Clerk Childers to attend a Municipal Clerk Training Course June 17-19.

•Approved $350 for each registration and $3,201.60 for hotel accommodations and other expenses for Priceville’s mayor, council and town clerk to attend the 2015 Annual Alabama League of Municipalities Convention in Tuscaloosa May 15-19.

•Approved $300 for annual membership dues for the North Alabama Mayor’s Association.

•Approved $750 for an advertisement in the 2015 Progress Edition of the Hartselle Enquirer.

•Approved travel and other expenses for maintenance supervisor Mike Bell and Matt Spicer to attend the Alabama Rural Water Association Collection System Rehabilitation Training Course in Jasper Feb. 19.

•Approved $150 per person and other expenses for maintenance supervisor Mike Bell and Matt Spicer to attend the ARWA Annual Technical Training Conference in Montgomery March 17.

•Approved $150 and other expenses for building inspector Chip Spicer to attend the Alabama Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Inspectors Educational Conference in Auburn March 31-April 3.

•Approved payment of bills totaling $72,825.38 for December 2014.

•Approved $500 for the upcoming community Easter egg hunt.

•Approved $470 to purchase four tires from OK Tires for a dump truck.

•Approved $500 for Miss Albany’s Piggy Tail 7K run at Priceville Elementary School Feb. 28 at 10 a.m.
