Carolyn Byars Logan

Funeral for Carolyn Byars Logan, 81, of Decatur will be Sun., Feb. 15, at 2 p.m. at First Bible Church in Decatur, with Pastor Paul Cheshier officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Her body will lie in state for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will be in Moulton City Cemetery. Visitation will be Sat., Feb. 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Logan died Fri., Feb. 13, 2015, at Decatur Morgan Hospital. She was born April 15, 1933, in Lawrence County to James D. Jefferson Byars and Elizabeth Irene Latham Byars. Mrs. Logan had two church families, one being at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Wren and the second at First Bible Church in Decatur. She spent her whole life caring for children at school and at church. She had a tremendous work ethic and helped care for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Winford Ray Logan; her parents; and a daughter, Martha Carol Logan.

She is survived by three daughters, Suzanne Minor (Danny) of Decatur, Liz Fagan (Keith) of Wren and Amy Halbrooks (Tommy) of Hartselle; a brother, Jimmy Byars (Jeanette) of Moulton; a sister, Geraldine Hooper of Russellville; seven grandchildren, Bailey Reding, Logan Reding, Lori Childers, Lucas Fagan, Chris Halbrooks, Caroline Allen and Will Halbrooks; eight great-grandchildren, Cade, Finley, Charleigh, Lauren, Lindie, Addison, Dirk and Sutton Claire.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.
