The Johnson’s Chapel United Methodist women held their February meeting Wed., Feb. 11, at 6 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Their president, Marla Marshall conducted the meeting, and Carolyn Marshall presented the program. The group discussed love and Valentine’s. The women are divided into groups of three for doing refreshments each month. There are nine members in their unit.

The members of Shady Grove Baptist Church held a “Peanut Butter Sunday” and it was a great success. One hundred seventy-one jars of peanut butter were donated to The Caring Place. Special thanks goes out to everyone for their generosity.

The Caring Place gives out 30 jars a week to families. This month they will need cereal and boxed macaroni and cheese dinners. There will be a box in the church foyer for donations.

The Neel United Methodist women held their February meeting Wed., Feb. 4, at the home of Connie Merrill at 7 p.m. Paige Blackwood gave the devotional from Romans 3:19. Susan Long presented an interesting program on Welcoming women in all stages of life. Afterward, Connie served refreshments to the fifteen members attending. The next meeting will be Wed., March 4.

The Weekdays Deli’s former patrons met on Feb. 11, at noon for lunch at Holy Smoke’s Barbecue in Tanner Heights. Billy Tillman of Round Top community and Randall Ward were the birthday person’s of the month for the group. They plan a monthly lunch and will celebrate the birthdays that occur. The Deli building was sold Feb. 6 and will be a photography shop.

Belated happy birthday wishes go out this week to Shirley Bibb, Brett Riggs, Bo Sparkman and Jacob Holder on Feb. 17, and happy birthday to Cody Camper on Feb.18 and Thomas Johnson on Feb. 21.

Happy wedding anniversary wishes go out this week to Wayne and Peggy Holloway as they celebrate their 54th anniversary on Thur., Feb. 19.

Forrest Chapel United Methodist Church will have their Ash Wednesday service on Feb. 18, at 6 p.m. The Rev. Patsy Carlberg will begin a series of sermons on Giving up control during Lenten-Easter. It starts with Giving it up, beginning Feb. 22 at the 11 a.m. worship hour; March 1, Giving up expectations: March 8, Giving Up Superiority; March 15, Giving up enemies; March 22, Giving up our lives; March 29, Palm Sunday, Giving up popularity; and Easter, April 5, the Rev. Carlberg will conclude the series with Giving up death. Everyone is welcome to attend these services.

Corinth West Methodist planned their events for several months on Thursday night at a church conference. The spring revival will be March 30 through April 1 at 7:00 p.m. They are inviting Rev. Ed King to be their evangelist. He is pastor at Pine Grove Holy Church of Christ. Many will remember Brother Ed’s grandfather, the late Rev. Druid “Red” Jarrett from Penn’s Church of God.

The members of Mt. Vernon Methodist are making future plans. On Sat. night, March 28, the Fellowship Quartet with Geoff Halbrooks will sing at 6:30 p.m.

Belated happy birthday wishes go out this week to Lorene Bryant. She celebrated her 95th birthday at her home in Massey.

Get well wishes go out this week to Melinda Haynes, Jenny Asherbranner, Doris Herring, Ann Nelson, Elsea and Kay and Roger Saint.

Christian love and heartfelt sympathy goes out this week for the family of Betty Rogers Burden of the Corinth community. She was from Jones Chapel and was married to the late James Burden of Corinth and the late Reed Andrews of Upshaw after James death. Betty has two daughters and one lives in the Mt. Vernon community and the other near Moulton. She had a long illness and “fought a good fight.” She was a good friend and neighbor. Her interment was at the Mt. Vernon cemetery on Mon., Feb. 9.

Kelly Hutchings of the Oak Ridge community is the owner-manager now of Bella Vintage Antique Mall in Hartselle. Brenda Wise formerly had the shop of vendor booths downtown. Brenda still helps Kelly with the business. Kelly’s daughters attend Danville schools and Kelly substitutes at the high school. She is also a Methodist minister and attended seminary at Sewanee in Tennessee. Kelly’s father was career military so she has lived many places and has an interesting history. She is very creative and her cards are on sale at the shop. She designs and makes lovely greeting cards.

Corinth West Baptist Women’s group distributes children, youth names and the members bought valentine gifts for them on Sun., Feb. 8. Also, members of the group brought their secret pal gifts for Valentine’s Day. Their prayer group will meet on Fri., Feb. 20 at 7:00 p.m. On Sunday night, Feb. 22 at 5 p.m. the Discipleship Training class will have a pancake, sausage, bacon and beverages in the fellowship hall. Afterward, Brother Glenn Miller will have the regular worship service.
