Church hosting concert set at Celebration Arena

Shoal Creek Baptist Church and Blue Mountain College will present Crossroads: Strength for the Journey, a free Christian concert,  Thur., March 12, at 6 p.m. at the Celebration Arena in Priceville.

The event will feature the music of Unspoken, J.J. Weeks Band and Jonny Diaz. Dr. Johnny Hunt, senior pastor of First Baptist Church in Woodstock, Ga. will be the speaker.

Bro. Gary Linville, senior pastor at Shoal Creek Baptist, said the concert is a way for the church to reach out to those in the community, who need a night of uplifting music and a message of hope.

“Everyone struggles with the uncertainty that life throws at us,” he pointed out. “God’s Word offers us hope, peace and comfort – even through our trials. Our prayer is that people will leave refreshed by the love God has for them and renewed for their personal journey.”

The evening will kick off with music from Diaz, JJ. Weeks Band and Unspoken. Diaz’s hit song “More Beautiful You” is still played regularly on contemporary music radio. Weeks is best known for the hit single, “Let Them See You in Me,” and is a regular fixture at youth conferences and other events throughout the Southeast. Unspoken recently recorded “Start a Fire” and previously had hit singles with “Lift My Life Up” and “Who You Are.”

“These artists are outstanding examples of young men putting their faith into action,” Linville said. “They are great musicians, but more than that, they are a wonderful witness of what God has done in their lives.”

Dr. Hunt has served as senior pastor at First Baptist Woodstock since 1986. He was elected president of the Southern Baptist Convention in 1996. In addition to his pastoral work, he is an evangelist and author.

Following Dr. Hunt’s message, the music will continue with additional concerts by Diaz, Weeks and Unspoken.

The concert is co-sponsored by Marx Optical and Traditions Bank.
