Shanghai Circus coming to Decatur

The Princess Theatre for the Performing Arts will present The New Shanghai Circus Mon., March 16, at 7:30 p.m.

The show features the Acrobats of China and is made possible by the Alabama State Council on the Arts and the National Endowment of the Arts.

Direct from China on a national tour, the circus is scheduled for a one-day residency, which includes shows for more than 1,200 elementary school students. The show is a beautifully orchestrated presentation of circus acts that trace their origin to harvest festivals of 2,000 years ago. This modern day performance is enhanced by choreography, lighting, scenery and music in a theatrical setting. Among the acts are contortionists, jugglers and acrobats.

Reserve tickets are $20-$30 and are available online at princesstheatre.org. For group sales and more information, call the Princess Theatre Box Office at 256-340-1778.
