Virginia Odell Laurence Johnson

Funeral for Virginia Odell Laurence Johnson, 93, of Decatur will be Thur., Feb. 26, at 2:30 p.m. at Rideout’s Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. J.D. Thorne officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Virginia Johnson went home to our Lord on Feb. 21, 2015. Born on April 30, 1921, she was a member of Point Mallard Parkway Baptist Church and had been a charter member of Fifth Avenue Baptist Church. She led a long, beautiful and productive life of service to others, always considering others before herself. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Anna Bell Laurence, and two sisters, Vialeeta Wilson and Fay Lamon.

She is survived by her husband of 71 years, William Harless Johnson; two daughters, Sandra Clark (Fred) and Shirley Ziegler (Tom); a son, Gerald Johnson (Leslie); seven grandchildren, Kenneth Noblin (Kirsten), Amy Kearns (Jason), Tony Ziegler (Ida), Daniel Johnson, Ben Johnson, Jordan Johnson and Caleb Johnson; six great-grandchildren Hanna Noblin, Caitlin Noblin, Kelly Noblin, Lydia Kearns, Andrew Kearns and Anna Belle Kearns; three brothers and sisters are George Laurence (Jean), B.J. Laurence (Ann), Christeva Johnson and June Palmer; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
