Hartselle meth investigation leads to seven arrests

Seven suspects were arrested and charged with drug related charges after an eight-month investigation into a meth house in Hartselle with more arrests are expected, according to Sheriff Ana Franklin.

Morgan and Lawrence County Drug Task Force agents, Huntsville STAC agents, Hartselle Police officers and Morgan County deputies executed a narcotics search warrant at 1607 W. Main St. March 11. Several suspects at the residence had been under investigation.

Agents had learned that Frankie Jo Whitworth, 45, was leading a large methamphetamine cooking operation at her residence. Over the course of the investigation, agents had developed as many as 10 different suspects that were bringing cold medicine containing pseudoephedrine to the residence.

On several different occasions, agents had conducted controlled purchases of meth from Whitworth and secured two unlawful distribution of a controlled substance warrants on her. Agents also learned that several other suspects believed to be in the residence had outstanding felony warrants relating to meth.

Agents executed the search warrant and located Whitworth, Travis Earl Smith, 39, Jennifer Tudo, 37, Jason Wayne Weeks, 39, Marcus Dean, 32 and Jamie Tokarz, 30. Smtih and Tudor tried to run out the back door, but they were detained before they could get outside.

Agents located multiple baggies of methamphetamine packaged for resale, acid, lye, fuel, coffee filters, cold packs, rubber tubing, digital scales, a pill grinder and a burnt meth lab in a burn pile.

Another suspect, Glenn Dale Anderson, 37, was at work, and Morgan County deputies arrested him from his place of employment. Agents also located two juveniles in the residence, 11 and 14. Morgan County DHR was called to the scene, and they were placed in foster care.

Rock Creek Volunteer Fire Department decontaminated the children, and the Hartselle Fire Department decontaminated the adults.

Whitworth was charged with unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance first degree, unlawful possession of a controlled substance- methamphetamine, felony possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts of drug endangerment of a child and the two distribution warrants. Whitworth’s bond was set at $670,000.

Smith, Tudor and Anderson were charged with unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance first degree, unlawful possession of a controlled substance- methamphetamine and felony possession of drug paraphernalia. Smith and Tudor also had felony warrants for previous manufacture charges out of Lawrence County. Their bond was set at $520,000 each, and Anderson’s bond was set at $270,000.

Weeks and Dean were charged with unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance second degree. Weeks was out on bond for previous meth charges. Their bond was set at $100,000 each.

Tokarz was charged with loitering in a drug house, and her bond was set at $300.

Other subjects are being sought in connection with this operation, and more are arrests are to come.
