The 5k run at Point Mallard in Decatur for Kane Hogan was held Sat., March 7, at 8 a.m.

Kane is a student at Danville High School and is undergoing cancer treatment at St. Jude’s Hospital in Memphis.

About 350 people registered. The Fun Mile was $15, and the 5k run was $25. Portions of each registry fee went to Kane’s fund.

Many from the Danville area participated. Danville High School students turned out in numbers in support of Kane and the fundraiser. The Hogan family appreciates all those who helped in any way with this event.

Forrest Chapel United Methodist men’s club began the new year with an annual church dinner Sat., Jan. 24, at the Freight House in Hartselle. The newly elected president is Jim Robertson.

The group meets for breakfast on the third Sunday morning of each month. A devotional is given by a member or a guest speaker with the business session following. The men use funds from sponsored events to support a missionary couple in third world countries.

William and Lydia Allshouse are appointed and supported by the World Gospel Mission. They are sent to be church builders and community center organizers.

The Methodist men assist with maintenance projects at church and in the local area and emergency needs within the community. The next meeting was March 15 at 7 a.m. in the church fellowship hall.

Forrest Chapel United Methodist Church will have a service of healing and reconciliation,March 15 at 6 p.m. Pastor, Rev. Patsy Carlberg, will conduct the program.

Round Top Community Church men’s group enjoyed their monthly breakfast Sun., March 8, at 8:30 a.m. in the family life center.

Happy belated wedding anniversary wishes to Jim and Monica Doherty for their 25th anniversary on March 3 and Waymon and Jo Ann Alexander for their 49th anniversary on March 5.

Happy wedding anniversary wishes to Joe and Stoshia Logan on their 21st anniversary on March 19 and Bo and Kristen Sparkman for their first anniversary on March 22.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Letha Hopkins of Round Top community this week. She fell, broke her knee and had steel plates put in that knee at Huntsville Hospital. She is now at Summerford’s Rehab Center at Falkville.

Special prayers also go out this week for Letha’s Uncle, Herman Hardin and he has been in Cullman Regional Hospital and is now at Summerford’s Rehab.

Ferrell and Pauline Anders of Fairhope spent March 6-8 with his mother, Doris Herring in Massey. Ferrell and Pauline, Doris, Larry Anders, Theron and B.B. Anders and Kay Farrer enjoyed Ferrell’s birthday lunch with cake and ice cream. Jack Harvey of Massey also visited and shared in the birthday.

Get well wishes go out this week for Paul Rowe who is in the Rehab Center at Summerford’s Nursing Home.

Anita Reid presided at the Corinth West Baptist women’s group meeting on Sun., March 1, at 10 a.m. Dawn Shedd gave the devotional and Donna Smithson led the prayer.

During the business session, Belinda Ricks gave them the menu for senior citizen’s lunch on Tues., March 17, which consisted of beans, cornbread, side items and desserts.

St. Patrick’s Day lends itself to Irish dishes such as corned beef and cabbage, potato soup, beef or lamb and potato stew.

An Easter egg hunt was planned for April 5 at 10 a.m. at the church. Christie Guthrie will be in charge of prizes and the women will serve breakfast for the children in the fellowship hall.

Gayle Miller served breakfast after the meeting. Everyone enjoyed sausage balls, cantaloupe, cinnamon rolls and Dana Henslee served orange juice and coffee.

The Danville Iron Man Bunco Club met Tues., March 10, at Mister Henry’s restaurant in Hartselle for their games and lunch. Members enjoyed the meal and visiting. The next meeting will be Tues., April 14, at 10 a.m.

Christian love and heartfelt prayers go out this week for Neil Quattlebaum and his family. Neil has been fighting a battle with melanoma cancer for several years. It is now in his bone marrow.

Many know Neil from his teaching and coaching at Cotaco and Falkville High School. Neil also drove a school bus for the different schools and Hartselle High School. His wife Yvonne taught at Sparkman School and retired from there.
