March 19

The Morgan County Sheriff’s Rodeo Street Dance will be Second Avenue Northeast in Decatur March 20 at 6 p.m.

The Morgan County Humane Society will have an adoption event Sat., March 21, at Tractor Supply Company in Hartselle from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

 

The Hartselle Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, Inc., HCPAAA, will offer a Gun Safety Class on March 21, for a $25, four-hour class.

 

March 23-27

Hartselle and Morgan County schools will close for spring break March 23-27.

 

March 23

The Hartselle City Council will have a work session for its regular meeting March 23 at 7 p.m. in the city hall auditorium.

 

March is Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Month, and the multiple sclerosis monthly meeting will be March 23 from 6-8 p.m. They meet in Room 2 at Sparkman Civic Center. March 24

The Hartselle City Council will have its regular meeting March 24 at 7 p.m. in the city hall auditorium.

 

March 26

A diabetes support group will meet March 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. in CRMC’s Ave Maria Room in Professional Office Building 2, Community Education Center. For more information contact the CRMC Diabetes Care Center at (256) 737-2025.

 

March 28

The Morgan County Humane Society will have an adoption event Sat., March 28, at Pet Depot in Hartselle from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

 

March 31

Morgan County Emergency Management Agency is excited to announce that the National Weather Service in Huntsville will be holding their SkyWarn Storm Spotter Class in Morgan County on March 31, at 6:30 p.m. at Brewer High School, located at 59 Eva Road, Somerville. The class will be held in the cafeteria of the school, please enter through the front door of the school. The class is FREE and should be approximately 2 hours in length.

 

April 4

The Morgan County Sheriff’s Rodeo Parade Kickoff will be at the Morgan County Sheriff’s Posse Grounds, located at 1801 Vest Road in Hartselle, April 4 at noon. Contestants may ride a horse, but it is not mandatory. No horses will be provided.

 

Hartselle Parks and Recreation will have its annual dog bone hunt is April 4 at 10 a.m. in Sparkman Park. There will also be a contest for best Easter costume, largest dog, smallest dog and the dog that found the most bones. There is no fee or registration; however, officials ask that you have proof of dog vaccinations and keep your dog on a leash. No more than one dog per person.

 

April 9

The Morgan County Sheriff’s Special Needs Rodeo will be at Morgan County Celebration Arena April 9 at 8 a.m.

 

April 10-11

The Morgan County Sheriff’s Rodeo will be at Morgan County Celebration Arena April 10-11 at 5 p.m. nightly. For more information email, mcsrqueen@gmail.com

 

The spring Hartselle Parks and Recreation rummage sale will be April 10-11. Seller registration begins Monday, March 9, at 7:30 a.m.  Sellers fee is $20 per space and they must be here both days.

 

April 20

The Hartselle Board of Education will have its regular meeting April 20 at 6 p.m. at the central office.

 

April 21

Hartselle Parks and Recreation will have a Pinterest party to paint door hangers, April 21 at 6 p.m. The theme will be a chalkboard rooster hanger and a frog. Participants must register for this class by April 17. The fee for the parties is $15 per project. Children are welcome to attend as long as they are accompanied by an adult that is also taking the class.

 

May 19

The Hartselle Board of Education will have its regular meeting May 19 at 6 p.m. at the central office.

 

June 15

The Hartselle Board of Education will have its regular meeting June 15 at 6 p.m. at the central office.

 

July 13

The Hartselle Board of Education will have its regular meeting July 13 at 6 p.m. at the central office.

 

All month

Water Aerobics classes will meet on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6:50 to 7:50 a.m. beginning June 2. The fee is $25 per month or $5 per visit.

 

Morgan County Humane Society, located at 86 Gum Springs Cut Off Road, is a no-kill animal shelter. It meets the second Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m. at the shelter. For more information, call 256-773-7222.

 

Volunteer entertainment is needed at Columbia Cottage in Hartselle. Gospel or country singers, instrumentalists, comedians, speakers, home schoolers, children or youth groups are welcome. Contact Penny Vest at 751-4809 or 502-1491.

 

A cancer support group meets on the first Monday of each month at 6 p.m. at the Pleasant Place building. Any person with any type of cancer is invited to attend. For more information, call 784-5694.

 

Hartselle’s New Beginnings Quilt Guild meets on the second Thursday of each month at the Farm Service Agency office on Alabama 36 west of downtown Hartselle. It is open to all who are interested in quilt making, The guild is focused on beginning quilt makers to help them learn how to make a new block each month and new techniques used to make them. Weight Watchers classes meet on Mondays at 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. and Tuesdays at 9 a.m. at Sparkman Civic Center with weigh-ins beginning 30 minutes prior to each meeting. Call 1-800-651-6000 for more information.

Baton classes meet Mondays at 5 p.m. The class is for age 6 and older. The fee is $40 per month.

 

Youth tumbling classes meet Mondays at 4 p.m. at Sparkman Civic Center. The class is for ages 3-12. The fee is $40 per month.

 

Priceville Palace hosts a big band swing dance with the Sophisticated Swingers on the first Friday of each month at 7:30 p.m. Every Saturday night Glenn Wood and the Crosscut Band is featured. A free couples dance class is held on the first and third Saturdays from 6 to 7 p.m. You do not have to have a partner to participate. For more information, call 256-353-4362.

 

All mothers of active duty reserve or honorably discharged military service members are invited to attend monthly meetings of Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc. The Morgan County Chapter meets the first Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. at East Highland Baptist Church in Hartselle.

 

The Hartselle Chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous meets Mondays at 8 p.m.; Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m.; Wednesdays at noon and 8 p.m.; Thursdays at 5:30 p.m.; Fridays at 7 p.m. and Saturdays at 7 p.m. The Friday meeting is a smoking meeting. Hartselle’s Rotary Club meets every Tuesday at noon at the Freight House Restaurant.

 

Sparkman Civic Center offers birthday bash celebrations. Cost is $100. It includes party room at Sparkman Civic Center, themed invitations, themed decorations, plates, cups, napkins, eating utensils, party favors, games, activities and two party coordinators. All you need to supply is cake and refreshments. Space is limited, so register early. Party days are Monday through Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. or Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. AARP Chapter 1831 meets the first Tuesday of every month except July, at the Christ Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, located 721 Pickens St. SW in Hartselle, at 10 a.m.

Senior Nutrition Center, also known as the Hartselle Senior Center is the place for friendly visiting, serious Rook and Canasta, a loud game of Texas spinner dominoes, sing-a-longs, informative chats and so much more. The center is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday. Groups also participate in evening supper bus trips. Hartselle Civitan Club meets the first and third Monday at 6 p.m. in Sparkman Civic Center Room 10. The club works with Civitan International to support and work with people in our community with mental and physical disabilities and support the Civitan International Research Center in Birmingham. Civitan is the only civic club with a research center. Hartselle Civitan Club was responsible for starting the Special Needs Accessible Playground located directly behind the Sparkman Civic Center.
