Tennessee Valley Farm Tour slated for April

The first annual Tennessee Valley Farm Tour will be April 11-12 across North Alabama and parts of Southern Tennessee.

The self-guided tour will lead visitors across the Tennessee Valley countryside highlighting small farms from Cullman to the Shoals to Huntsville. Participating farms will host visitors from 2-6 p.m. Sat. and Sun., allowing consumers to meet local farmers, see how they are getting ready for the growing season and do a little shopping.

For $25, each carload receives a map of the farms with directions, a copy of ASAN’s local food guide and a 2015 Farm Tour magnet for their car.

The tour is sponsored by Rosita’s Farm, Alabama Cooperative Extension System, Alabama Mountains, Rivers and Valleys RC&D Council, Small Farms Research Center, Greene Street Market at Nativity, USDA Beginning Farmer and Rancher Development Program and Alabama Sustainable Agriculture Network.
