Various Easter celebrations
Easter has been one of the more unique days that I’ve celebrated over the years.
I’ve participated in Easter egg hunts as a hunter, hider and newspaper photographer. I’ve played parts in Easter dramas, both in front and behind the scenes.
I’ve attended a number of Holy Week and Lenten events throughout the late winter and spring season. That has included Lenten lunches, Holy Week midday services, Good Friday events and much more.
The number of Passion plays that I’ve seen have varied in size from very small to productions that used fireworks during the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
As far as productions related to Easter, I’ve even seen a production of the Broadway musical “Godspell,” the TV miniseries “Jesus of Nazareth” and Mel Gibson’s “The Passion of the Christ.”
I’ve attended anything from a Passover Seder with a Messianic church in Birmingham to a less-kosher Easter crawfish boil.
Easter is one of the more enjoyable holidays I have during the year. There is something special about remembering what this season is all about – the death and resurrection of Jesus. It is one of the most important – if not most important – holidays that Christians observe.
Take time to reflect on the importance of this holiday.
