Falkville falls to Sumiton in Bob Jones Tourney

Falkville couldn’t take advantage of four hits in a 4-0 loss to Sumiton Christian during the Bob Jones Tournament Saturday.

Mackenzie Smith had a double while Bailey Anders, Maddie White and Kaitlynn McMurray added hits. Bracey Thompson also reached on an error, but all five base runners were stranded.

McMurray took the loss, allowing four runs on six hits with four walks in four innings.

 

FHS 4, Central 3

 

Falkville scored two runs in the top of the fourth inning to lift the Blue Devils past Central Saturday in the Bob Jones Tournament.

Smith and White each had two hits while Anders added a double. Breanna Thompson and Katelyn Widner added hits.

White earned the win, allowing one earned run on three hits with four walks and a strikeout in four innings.

 

FHS 7, BHS 1

 

White allowed one run on three hits and four walks in a win over Brewer Thursday.

McMurray had two RBIs on a triple while Smith was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a double. White also added two RBIs on a base hit. Emily Gray was also 2-for-2 with two runs.

Paige Garner, Cheyenne Wilson and Widner added hits.

Watkins took the loss for Brewer, allowing seven runs on nine hits and one walk with two strikeouts in three innings of work.

Evans had a double for Brewer while Sharp and Taylor Ledbetter added hits.

 

Lincoln (Tenn.) 5, FHS 4

 

Three Falkville errors led to three unearned runs for Lincoln in a loss Thursday.

Garner took the loss, allowing two earned runs on five hits and five walks with a strikeout.

White and Thompson finished 2-for-3 while Anders had a double. Smith and McMurray had hits for Falkville with McMurray driving in two runs.

 

FHS 16, PHS 9

 

Falkville exploded for seven runs in the sixth inning to defeat Priceville March 31.

The Lady Bulldogs held a 6-5 lead before Falkville took control in the fourth inning.

Maddie White led the way, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs and a double. Callie Garner was 2-for-6 and McMurray was 2-for-5. Anders, Smith, Paige Garner, Wilson, Thompson and Gray added hits.

Thompson had three RBIs while Smith had two RBIs.

Callie Garner earned the win, allowing five earned runs on eight hits with six walks and three strikeouts. Paige Garner allowed an unearned run on a hit and two walks with a strikeout.

Eighth grader Kathleen Wheeler was 4-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Freshman Abby Hensley was 4-for-4 with three runs scored and RBI.

Senior Abby St John went 2-for-4 with three runs scored and a stolen base. Sophomore Sara Beth Wilson added an RBI single and eighth grader Destinee Hargove had an RBI.

“We fought hard but the big inning hurt us, as they always do and always will,” said Priceville coach Preston Potter. “We wasted some at bats throughout the game and waited too long to make the adjustments at the plate we needed to make. I’m proud of the fight. We must execute the game better.”

 

West Limestone 5-11, FHS 1-1

 

Falkville had just five hits in a doubleheader with West Limestone March 30.

White took the loss in game one, allowing four earned runs on seven hits with three walks and four strikeouts in six innings.

Wilson had the only RBI on a double. Paige Garner and Thompson had the other two hits.

Anders had an RBI double in the second game while White had the only other hit.

Paige Garner took the loss with only one strikeout. McMurray had no strikeouts in one and two-thirds innings.

 

West Morgan 7, BHS 2

 

Ledbetter was 2-for-3, but it wasn’t enough against West Morgan.

Kennedy Winton had an RBI double while Bailey Watkins had a hit. Morgan Thomas also added an RBI.

Watkins took the loss, allowing one earned run on eight hits and two walks with five strikeouts in six innings.

 

DHS 7, East Lawrence 5

 

Daniel Roof, Lara Fagan, Danielle Roof and Savannah Bolton each had two hits to lead Danville past East Lawrence.

Weatherwax had an RBI, a double and a triple while Roof had a double and three RBIs.

Bolton got the win, allowing no runs, no hits and two walks with seven strikeouts in three and one-third innings. Abby Young allowed three earned runs on five hits and three walks in three and two-thirds innings.
