Hartselle City Schools Superintendent Dr. Vic Wilson is among the four finalists for the Hoover City Schools Superintendent’s post.

A representative from the Alabama Association of School Boards, which conducted the search for Hoover City Schools, presented the list of finalists during the Hoover Board of Education’s called meeting April 14.

Wilson is scheduled to interview with the Hoover Board of Education Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at the Hoover central office with a brief meet-and-greet session to follow.

Wilson said this was an opportunity that he couldn’t pass up.

“We’ve lived in Hoover for 18 years,” Wilson said. “Our children were students in the Hoover system. We loved living in Hoover, and we love living in Hartselle. We prayed about it. It’s an opportunity that we had to pursue.”

The names of the other finalists who will interview include:

• Dr. Charles L. Ledbetter, Superintendent, Dublin (Ga.) City Schools, interviewed Tuesday.

• Dr. Chris J. Marczak, Assistant Superintendent, Oak Ridge (Tenn.) City Schools, will interview today, Wednesday.

• Dr. Kathy L. Murphy, Superintendent, Monroe County (Ala.) Board of Education, will interview Monday.

• Dr. John D. Barge, State Superintendent of Education, Georgia Department of Education, was announced as a finalist but has withdrawn after taking another position.

According to AASB, 39 people expressed interest in the Hoover Superintendent position. Thirty-one of those people fully completed the application. In all, 15 states were represented in the candidate pool.

According to the system website, the interviews will be streamed on the Internet and archived.
