Ronald DeWitt Ridge

Funeral for Ronald DeWitt Ridge, 71, of Hartselle will be Fri., April 24, at 7 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Shane Britt officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Visitation will be Fri., April 24, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Ridge died Tues., April 21, 2015, at his residence. He was born May 13, 1943, in California to Robert Dewitt Ridge and Hazel Marie Robinson Ridge. He was united in marriage to Julie Dee Mayes on Dec. 19, 1987 in Shelbina, Miri. Ron enjoyed horses and golf, spending time with his family and was an avid Alabama football fan. He attended church at the Pentacostals of Hartselle. He served in the United States Air Force. Born in Bakersfield, Calif., he grew up in Decatur, Ill. and moved to Decatur upon his discharge from the military. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson,Tyzaiah LeTell Smiley.

He is survived by his wife, his wife, Julia Dee (Mayes) Ridge; two sons, Keith Dewitt Ridge and Kirby Lee Ridge; two daughters, Pamela Lynne (Ridge) Metcalf and Kristen Nicole Marquette; a sister, Linda Jean (Ridge) Boike; and three grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
