HACC Spring Fling starts May 1

Participants shop Hartselle, win prizes

The Hartselle Area Chamber of Commerce’s sixth annual Spring Fling will start May 1 and continue through May 16.

Participants are asked to keep all receipts from purchases from any business within the city limits from May 1-16 to be redeemed for tickets to enter door prizes. The door prizes will be awarded after the conclusion of the Cotton Pickin’ BBQ Cook-Off in downtown Hartselle Sat., May 16, at 5 p.m. One ticket can be redeemed for each $10 spent, up to 200 tickets ($2,000).

Chamber president Susan Hines said this is a shop local event.

“We really want to encourage everyone to shop in Hartselle, and the Spring Fling gives them an incentive,” Hines said. “It’s very easy on merchants and customers. Merchants only have to give customers a receipt with a date and the business name for their purchases. Customers keep those receipts and turn them in May 16. We count up the amount spent in Hartselle and give them their tickets earned.”

Hines said the Spring Fling includes all businesses inside Hartselle’s City limits, including gas stations, doctor’s offices, big chain stores and small family-operated businesses.

“People can redeem receipts from anywhere in Hartselle,” Hines said. “They can get tickets for buying gas, having an eye exam or buying anything at all in Hartselle. If they were saving up for an expensive item, now is the is the time to buy it and be eligible for more tickets for our door prize drawing.”

Hines said they have seen an increase in participation throughout the years.

“It’s been very successful over the years,” Hines said. “Our participation has grown, and we see a lot of BBQ teams who will specifically purchase in Hartselle and stay for the drawings. Our area merchants have also been very eager to donate items worth at least $25 for our door prizes.”

Past prizes have included a flat-screen television, a meat smoker, patio furniture, pearls, gas coupons, meal vouchers and more.

Receipts must be redeemed for tickets at the Depot, 110 Railroad St. in Hartselle,  Sat., May 16, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Participants must be present to win.
