Denslow honored as one of Calhoun’s top students
Calhoun Community College recognized and honored its top students for the 2014-15 academic year during the college’s 46th Annual Honors Day program, Fri., May 1, in the Kelley Gymnasium on the Decatur campus.
Among the students honored were the college’s “Top Ten Most Outstanding Students.”
Victoria Denslow from Hartselle, is a nursing major with a 3.8 GPA. She currently serves as an officer for the Calhoun Drama Club, is active as an actor, singer and dancer for Calhoun’s Theater Program and is active in both the Phi Theta Kappa and Sigma Kappa Delta
honor societies. She was the recipient of the Betsy Cantrell Memorial Scholarship for the 2014-2015 year.
Denslow is active in her community through volunteering with the Decatur Chamber of Commerce, teaching fifth and sixth graders at her local church and assisting as a school nurse at the local elementary school. Her goal is to obtain her nursing degree from Calhoun and then eventually continue her education to become a nurse practitioner. She would also like to minor in Spanish to better serve her community.
Also included on the list were James Thomas Burton II, Yesseliz Michelle Feria, Kirsten Gilbert, all of Huntsville; Anna Felis and Grayson “Rivers” Hovater, both of Madison; Brittany Locke of Elkmont; Taylor Peters of Meridianville; Michaela Russell of Ardmore; and Jaime Nicole Thigpen of Athens.
A picnic for students and their families was held following the program.
