Falkville knocked out of playoffs

Mars Hill 10, Falkville 0

The Blue Devils struggled offensively Saturday in the tiebreaker, losing to Mars Hill 10-0 in the third round of state playoffs.

Ryan Bradford, Colin Eason and Nic Martin added a hit each.

Mayer pitched two innings, allowing nine runs off six hits, and Martin pitched two and a third innings, allowing one run off four hits.

Mars Hill 11, Falkville 1

Falkville fell to Mars Hill 11-1 during the night cap Friday in the third round of playoffs, extending the series to Saturday’s tie-breaker.

The Blue Devils did not have the offensive performance they saw earlier in the night. Hunter Woodall, Ryan Bradford and Nic Martin added a hit each. Taylor Steele earned the only RBI.

Blake Bradford, Nic Martin and Taylor Steele split the pitching duties. Bradford struck out two and walked two, allowing seven runs off four hits in two innings. Steele struck out one, walked three and allowed three runs off zero hits in one-third of an inning. Martin struck out one, walked none and allowed one run off seven hits.

Falkville 9, Mars Hill 1

During the first game of a doubleheader in the third round of state playoffs, the Blue Devils cruised to a 9-1 victory over Mars Hill Friday.

Falkville was performing offensively, with both Ryan Bradford and Nic Martin racking up three hits apiece. Bradford knocked a homerun and pulled off a double. Other hitters included Hunter Woodall, Tyler and Dallas Mayer with two hits apiece and Taylor Steele, Andy Dove and Colin Eason with one hit each. Bryant Hester added two RBIs.

Bradford earned the win from the mound in seven innings with eight strikeouts, two walks and one run off six hits.
