Two arrested for drug charges in Decatur

A Decatur woman and a Birmingham man were arrested Fri., May 1, in Decatur on drug-related charges following a traffic violation.

Elizabeth Diane Morris, 39, of 1015 Fifth Ave. SE and Monique Antoine Roscoe, 39, of 4327 Jackson St. were stopped by a Decatur police officer on Westmead Drive near the Beltline after Morris, the driver of the vehicle, failed to use a turn signal. The officer located methamphetamine, spice and drug paraphernalia in the car. Morris’s 9-year-old son was also in the car and was in close proximity to the illegal substances.

Morris was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, endangering the welfare of a child, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to use a turn signal. Roscoe was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Morris and Roscoe were taken to the Decatur City Jail and later transferred to the Morgan County Jail. Morris is held on a $6,500 bond, and Roscoe is held on a $5,500 bond.
