Local students win at 4-H shotgun championship

Several Morgan County students received awards during the Alabama State 4-H Shotgun Championship April 10-11 in Childersburg.

The Morgan County junior shooting team earned several honors in the competition. They received first place in the high individual sporting clays, first place in the high team skeet and first place in high team trap. In addition, the team received the highest overall junior team score. Team members are Cooper McCay, Thomas Marrow, Dustin Randolph and Landon Sims.

The Morgan County Brewer High School junior team received third place in high team trap. Team members are Avery Abercrombie, John Coker and Nathan Coker.

Junior competitors also brought home many individual awards. Dustin Randolph of the Morgan County team received first place in the high individual sporting clays. In the junior high individual skeet event, Dustin Randolph of the Morgan County team received second place, and Landon Sims, also of the Morgan County team, received third place. In the junior high individual trap event, Avery Abercrombie of the Brewer High School junior team received first place, and Landon Sims of the Morgan County team received second place.

In the junior overall individual awards, Morgan County students swept the board. Dustin Randolph of the Morgan County junior team received first place. Avery Abercrombie of the Brewer High School junior team received second place. Landon Sims of the Morgan County junior team received third place.

The Morgan County senior team received second place in the high team sporting clays competition, second place in high team skeet and first place in high team trap. The team also received the second highest overall senior team score. Team members are Zack Benefield, Aren McNutt Lucas Randolph, and Garrett Robinson.

McNutt and Robinson, both of the Morgan County Team, also received senior individual awards. In the senior high individual trap competition, McNutt received first, and Robinson received second.

Junior participants from the Morgan County Team included: Nathaniel Cooper, Jasper Eddy, Thomas Marrow, Cooper McCay, Carter McLemore, Jackson Poole, Dustin Randolph and Landon Sims. Morgan County senior participants included: Zack Benefield, Drew Cooper, Noah Felong, Aren McNutt, Kirby Posey, Lucas Randolph and Garrett Robinson.

Brewer High School junior team participants were Avery Abercrombie, John Coker and Nathan Coker. Their senior participants were Eli Linderman and Jacob McMinemon.
