Morgan County Commission agenda items

The Morgan County Commission acted on the following agenda items at its regular meeting Tues., May 12:

•Approved a resolution for the acceptance of bid from the lowest responsible and responsive bidder meeting specifications, Bagby Elevator, for elevator project, in the mount of $261,000

•Approved a resolution for the acceptance of Lee Builders for Morgan County jail addition, in the amount of $9,589,817.

•Approved a resolution setting a public hearing and meeting May 26 at 9 a.m. in the Commission Chamber on the fifth floor of the Morgan County Courthouse, for purposes of receiving input as to whether or not Morgan County should enter into a Side Agreement with the City of Huntsville, and the City of Decatur to contribute up to $300,000.00 for purposes of an economic incentive package for the Polaris Plant and to authorize the Chairman to publish a Notice of such meeting pursuant to Amendment No. 772 of the Constitution of Alabama of 1901, as amended.

•Approved a  resolution approving the refund of Deed Tax, recorded in error in the Morgan County Probate Office, for the following: Daniel Sims, $62.13 and Dewey Robert Hogue, $35.75

•Approved a  resolution authorizing the refund of sales tax in the amount of $1,303.22 submitted by Loves Travel Stop & Country Store for the month of March 2015, due to error.

•Approved a  resolution to enter into Utility Reimbursement Agreement with Alabama Department of Transportation for the relocation of multiple utilities at Vaughn Bridge Road for bridge replacement Project STPOA-5213( ), MCP 52-136-12U, ACBRZ59675-ATRP (009), District 2.

•Approved checks issued for April totaling $4,856,452.27.

•Approved a resolution approving certificate to subdivide and consolidate property located within Morgan County for the following: Bernice Cook, Hog Jaw Road, in District 4.

•Adopted a  resolutions and orders confirming and ratifying the levies of the 5.8 Mill Countywide School Tax and the 3.6 Mill District School Tax and pledging such taxes and their proceeds for the payment of the Decatur City Board of Education’s Special Tax School Warrants in the approximate principal amount of $84,485,000.00, Series 2015, dated May 1, 2015.

•Approved payment of $1,575.00 from Pugh Wright McAnally representing professional services for new jail annex.

•Authorized the chairman to execute contract with the following representing the promotion of Morgan County, which will be payable out of the Tourism, Recreation & Convention Fund: Wheeler Wildlife Refuge (Fishing Rodeo), $500

•Approved payment of $220.00 from Terracon Consultants representing services related to the bridge replacement project on Cotaco-Florette Road (District 4), Contract No. E1145196.

•Approved invoice in the amount of $1,515.00 from Travelers Insurance representing deductible on the following claim numbers: EYB7766, Ransom and EYB9112, Wilhite.

•Approved payment of $16,111.00 from Volkert, Inc. representing program management services on Morgan County Jail Annex.

•Adopted a resolution approving job description for Director of Environmental Services, Grade 12 ($22.56-$29.46).

•Approved a resolution authorizing the chairman to fill the position of payroll/benefits officer, Grade 10 ($20.09-$26.22).

•Approved payment of $32.00 from Meadowbrook Insurance representing insurance coverage on 2002 Silverado Pickup.

•Approved payment of $36,200.00 from Cecil Pigg Steel Truss representing construction of equipment sheds for District 1.

•Adopted a resolution authorizing Greg Cain, Judge of Probate, to eliminate one (1) position of Probate Clerk II, and to create and fill one (1) position of Probate Clerk I, Grade 3 ($11.41-$14.85).

•Adopted a resolution proclaiming Wed., May 13, as “Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Day” in Morgan County.

•Approved a resolution authorizing the chairman to advertise for bids and/or purchase off State Bid (1) truck for District 2.

•Approved the following excess proceed claim arising from revenue commissioner’s tax sale for the following: Farzaneh Properties, LLC, Parcel 03-09-31-1-002-007.000, $1,339.22

•Adopted a resolution authorizing the commission to approve appointments of  Tony Grande and Tony Weikert to E-911 Board with terms expiring April 11, 2019.

•Approved a resolution authorizing District 1 to donate $10,000 to Priceville High School to help in transition to new building.

•Authorized Debra Gardner, director of the Commission on Aging/MCATS to fill the position of part-time driver.
