Somerville man arrested on multiple drug charges
A Somerville man was arrested in Decatur Thurs., June 18, on multiple drug and traffic charges.
Benjamin Hunter Griffin, 19, of 254 Turney Ridge Road, was stopped near Beltline Road and Spring Avenue when Decatur Police Department officers noticed that he was driving with an expired tag. Inside Griffin’s vehicle, officers found cocaine, suboxone, drug paraphernalia and an assault rifle. The officers determined that the cocaine packaging was consistent with packaging used for drug sales. A large amount of U.S. currency was also found, and the denominations of the money were also consistent with drug sales.
Griffin was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substances, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while suspended and an expired tag. He was taken to the Decatur City Jail and then transferred to the Morgan County Jail on a $6,500 bond.
