Fourth of July schedule around town

Independence Day is quickly approaching and many local offices and businesses are preparing to take time off in order to celebrate.

However, the Fourth of July falls on a Saturday this year, causing many businesses and organizations to schedule their day off at a different time.

The Hartselle Enquirer will be closed Friday, and deadlines for birthday, wedding and engagement announcements will be Thursday at noon.

According to Hartselle Public Works Director Daxton Maze, the trash collection schedules will remain the same throughout the holiday week. However, a recycling pickup will be held Fri., July 10, in order to accommodate the holiday. Morgan County Environmental Services will also run their trash collections as usual with no changes to their schedule.

Hartselle, Falkville and Priceville town halls and the Hartselle Public Works office, will all be closed on Fri., July 3. Because each local library follows its city’s schedule, the Hartselle, Falkville and Priceville public libraries will also be closed on July 3.

In contrast, several businesses have selected to keep their day off on Sat., July 4. These include Corum’s Building Supply, The Freight House Restaurant and O’Bryan’s Family Steak House. Travel agency Adventures Unlimited is normally closed on the weekend, and they plan to remain open Friday.

For those who are not planning to prepare their meals on the grill and are looking for places to eat for the holiday, some local restaurants plan to remain open. Pig Stand Barbeque and Dutch Oven Bakery will keep their normal hours on July 4.
