Hartselle man arrested on drug charges

A Hartselle man was arrested on a drug charge on Wed., June 24.

Patrick Gunnar Prater, 24, was reported to the Morgan County Drug Task Force after employees of a local pharmacy noticed suspicious activity. The agents arrived at the scene and observed Prater purchasing cold pills containing pseudoephedrine on a regular basis. The agents spoke to the Hartselle Police Department, who said that Prater had a suspended driver’s license. The Hartselle Police officers then conducted a traffic stop on Prater for driving with a suspended license. They obtained consent to search the vehicle and found a box of cold pills containing pseudoephedrine on his person. The Drug Task Force Agents were called to the scene, and Prater confessed to them that he was trading the pills to an individual for use in the manufacture of methamphetamine.

Prater was arrested on a charge of unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance second degree. He was taken to the Morgan County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
