Depot Days set for Sept. 19
The 35th annual Depot Days will be held in downtown Hartselle Sat., Sept. 19.
The Depot Days week of festivities is already in the works. Hartselle Area Chamber of Commerce President Susan Hines said they are making a few changes this year.
The sixth annual Depot Days pageant will now be called the Depot Days Tourism Pageant. It will be a preliminary for the Alabama Miss World’s Tourism Pageant. Applications will be due Sept. 1 at 5 p.m., and the pageant will be Sat., Sept. 12.
The following Sun., Sept. 13 will be the annual community worship service. Plans for the worship service are not yet complete.
Monday evening will feature Down Memory Lane. The Hartselle Historical Society has set this year’s Down Memory Lane theme around elected and appointed officials. The Historical Society welcomes any information or memorabilia from the community. It can be passed along to the Hartselle Historical Society by contacting the chamber.
Tuesday will include a musical review of sorts. The chamber is contacting various artists to perform for the night. They are working on quite the lineup to please most every musical taste from theatrical to bluegrass to jazz. A location has not yet been decided.
“We’ve had music during the week of Depot Days before, but this will be different,” Hines said. “Our past musical events have been successful, so we are excited about this one. We are working to get as many different kinds of music as we can, so it should be a lot of fun for everyone.”
Thursday’s schedule will focus on school choral concerts like it has in the past, but the details are still in the works.
The chamber committee will take off Friday to set up for Saturday’s festival.
Saturday will host numerous vendors and booths, a tractor show, entertainment and the 25th annual car and bike show. This year’s festival will feature two stages for performances at both E.A.R.T.H. Park and on Railroad Street across from the chamber. Those interested in performing can contact the chamber with a demo at 256-773-4370.
