Morgan County BOE Agenda for tonight

MORGAN COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION

The Morgan County Board of Education will consider for approval the following agenda items at their regularly scheduled meeting Thur., July 10.

FIELD TRIPS

  • Approved a request for out of state travel from Falkville High School.  Approximately twenty-five (25) students and their chaperones will travel to New York City, New York on August 30-September 4, 2015 to experience a week of educational venues.  
  • Approved a request for out of state travel from Falkville High School.  Approximately eighteen (18) students and their chaperones will travel to Murfreesboro, TN on July 17-18, 2015 to attend volleyball camp at Middle Tennessee State University.  

 CONTRACTS

  • Approved contract for services with Merrimack Hall for an eligible student to attend Project Up- Summer Camp June 1, 2015 to June 12, 2015.  
  • Approved memorandum of agreement between The University of West Alabama and Morgan County Schools for UWA Teacher Connect.  
  • Approved payment of $13,000.00 to Alabama Association of School Boards for 2015-2016 Annual Dues.  
  • Approved payment of $150.00 to Alabama Association of School Boards-Legal Assistance Fund for 2015-2016 Dues.  
  • Approved Morgan County Board of Education Budget Amendment Number 2 as presented.  
  • Approved change order number two on the Falkville High School Additions and Renovations project for an add of $9,395.28 and 27 calendar days to the current contract sum/duration.  
  • Approved change order number two on the new MCS Transportation and Maintenance Facility project for a credit of (-$36,706.68) and an add of 24 calendar days to the current contract sum/duration.  
  • Approved agreement with the Alabama Association of School Boards for Superintendent Evaluation Services as presented.  

 PERSONNEL

  • Approved revised effective date of employment for Geoff Walter, teacher/coach at Brewer High School as June 1, 2015. 
  • Accepted resignation/retirement notice from Milford Sandy Fields, teacher at Danville High School, effective August 1, 2015.  
  • Accepted resignation letter from Joseph Hawkins, teacher and coach at Priceville Junior High School, effective June 15, 2015.  
  • Accepted resignation letter from James George, custodian at Danville Middle School, effective July 1, 2015.  
  • Approved school to school transfer of Derek Blagburn from special education (self-contained) teacher at Brewer High School to special education (self-contained) teacher, countywide effective school year 2015-2016 school year.  
  • Approved school to school transfer of Heath Saint from health teacher at West Morgan High School to history teacher at Danville High School effective school year 2015-2016.  
  • Approved school to school transfer of Dawn Stiles NeSmith from special education teacher at Falkville High School to teacher-special education Instructional Coach, countywide, effective school year 2015-2016.  
  • Approved within school reassignment of Jean Ann Montgomery from kindergarten teacher to 2nd grade teacher at Lacey’s Spring School effective school year 2015-2016.  
  • Approved within school reassignment of Lila Johnson from first grade teacher to intervention teacher at Priceville Elementary School effective school year 2015-2016.  
  • Approved within school reassignment of Keri Rodgers from kindergarten teacher to first grade teacher at Priceville Elementary School effective school year 2015-2016.  
  • Approved within school reassignment of Sydney Starkey from fourth grade teacher to second grade teacher at Priceville Elementary School effective school year 2015-2016.  
  • Approved within school reassignment of Heather Clairday from first grade teacher to fourth grade teacher at Priceville Elementary School effective school year 2015-2016.
  • Approved within school reassignment of Anna Spradling from intervention teacher to kindergarten teacher at Priceville Elementary School effective school year 2015-2016.  
  • Approved contract for services with Jean Ann Montgomery to provide tutoring services effective June 1, 2015 through September 30, 2015.  
  • Approved contract for services with Chris Odom to serve as summer school teacher effective 2 days a week/6 hours per day June 8-July 29, 2015.  
  • Approved contract for services with Marsha Smith to provide extended school year services for an eligible student for a total of 24 hours (June 8-July 31, 2015).  
  • Approved promotion of Pamela Hogeland to assistant CNP manager at Priceville Junior High School effective August 5, 2015.  This is a new position.  
    • Approved employment of Kenneth Edward Thomas as custodian at Priceville Junior High School effective July 13, 2015.  This is a new position.  
    • Approved employment of Melanie Barber as aide at Priceville Junior High School effective August 11, 2015.  This is a new position.  
    • Approved promotion of Tina Turney to bookkeeper at Cotaco School effective August 5, 2015.  Ms. Turney will be replacing Joyce Dotson who retired.
