Hartselle City Schools kicked off their first competition between schools Wednesday afternoon with a bowling tournament. In celebration of Hartselle City Schools 40th Anniversary there will be a different contest each month between each of the six schools in the system.
To add a little more competition, a team of central office employees as well as a team from the Hartselle Alumni Association will be added.
Four members from the faculty at each school bowled as a team along with four from the alumni association and the central office.
The competition was pretty close between several of the school teams, but the Hartselle Junior High team, No Pins Left Behind came out on top with a combined team score of 516. High scoring bowler Christy Williams helped her team including Shane Russell, Kelly Ward and Jodi Fuqua, out with a score of 197. Bringing up the rear of the pack was Hartselle High with a low score of 429. This team of all men, and consisted mainly of past and present coaches, included Pat Smith, Bob Young, Faron Key and Jack Napier.
Each school also had a group of supporters made up of other members of their faculties as well as friends and family members.
Next month’s competition will be a costume contest and each school will enter one member to be judged in the competition.
All in attendance seemed to have a good time and what a great way to build team spirit between all the schools.
