Newspapers in Education ‘NIE’ in action
Randy Garrison
Hartselle Enquirer
One of the ways newspapers help education is through the Newspapers in Education Program. Each week there are hundreds of copies of our newspapers delivered to schools across our city and county.
These newspapers are provided for the teachers in our school systems to use in their classrooms. The use of newspapers can be used to teach reading and other skills in the classroom.
From the young kindergartener to the seniors in high school using the newspapers provided to the schools is a valuable tool.
As a local weekly newspaper we would not be able to provide the newspapers to our local schools without the help of sponsors.
We would like to thank the following for their contribution to this educational tool:
Gilchrist Pharmacy, Peck Funeral Home, Mack’s Paint and Body Shop, Sittason Family Dentistry and Hartselle Eye Care. The mentioned businesses support NIE in our local schools by monetarily helping to cover the costs to provide the newspapers each week.
Other subscribers throughout the year also contribute to NIE when they renew their subscriptions each year.
We thank each of your for your sponsorship and contribution and welcome others who would like to be a part of Newspapers in Education in our area. Please call the newspaper office at 256 773 6566 if you would like to join in this worthwhile project.
