Funeral for Jimmy D. Nelson, 78, of Hartselle will be Fri., Oct. 9, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joey Coots officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Falkville City Cemetery.

Visitation will be Fri., Oct. 9, from 1 to 2:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Nelson died Wed., Oct. 7, 2015, at his residence. He was born Aug. 21, 1937, in Lawrence County to Wallace Leroy Nelson and Wilma Lee Cartee Nelson. Mr. Nelson was the owner/operator of the D & S Machine Shop for 43 years. He was machinist by trade, and also served in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Nelson was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles L. and Bobby L. Nelson and his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly J. Nelson of Hartselle; two daughters, Deanna C. Nelson of Decatur and Stacey N. Weeks (Scotty) of Hartselle; a sister, M. Pamela Estes (James) of Somerville; three grandchildren, Tyler Shelton, Trevor Shelton and Kaetlin McCulloch; mother-in law, Dorothy Clark; brother-in-law, Lewis Coots; sister-in-law, Sue Nelson; special friend, Mike Blankenship.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
